The historic father-son NBA on-court duo of basketball star LeBron James and his son Bronny has been mired in controversy, as sceptics associated his draft to the Los Angeles Lakers with nepotism.

This as the LA Lakers selected Bronny with the No.55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft presented by State Farm last month.

Businessman and rapper, Rick Ross clapped back at critics bickering over Bronny’s milestone.

“Nepotism! Ya’ll make me sick.

Every year you come up with a new word. 80% of you people got a job from somebody you know, Lil Bronny is a bigger star than 90% of the athletes in the league.

Ya’ll wanna say nepotism?

The first people who want to get into a concert for free and you wanna say nepotism?

Who was he supposed to play for?” Ross expressed his frustration on a video he posted on X.

Even with the ongoing debate on whether Bronny is worthy of his new gig, the 19-year-old has shown a great deal of thick skin to his naysayers.

“I’ve been dealing with stuff like this my whole life so it’s nothing different.

It’s more amplified for sure, but I’ll get through it,’’ said Bronny.

Bronny also reiterated his intention to work even harder and create a name for himself despite his father’s success.

The news of his draft comes as LeBron is said to have reportedly opted out of the final year of his contract with the LA Lakers but is working on a new one.

The agreement will make him a free agent and eligible to sign a three-year deal with the club.

While it remains unclear when or if the duo will ever play a game together, they are the first ever father and son to ever play in the league at the same time, in one team.
