DJ Zinhle responds to Chris Brown crush claims

South African singer and businesswoman, DJ Zinhle has sought to set the record straight, after being accused of having a crush on American singer and dancer, Chris Brown.

Just like many South Africans, DJ Zinhle, whose real name is Zinhle Jiyane, didn’t hold back on her excitement to have Brown in the country for his two-day concerts at the FNB Stadium on 14 and 15 December.

She posted a series of videos on TikTok expressing the fear of missing out (FOMO) she had for her inability to attend the much-anticipated concerts.

This however caught a different kind of attention, with some social media users accusing her of disrespecting her music producer husband, Bongani Mohosana, popularly known as Murdah Bongz, with her posts.

Zinhle sought to clarify any misunderstanding through another video.

“It’s Chris Brown.

Everyone is allowed to fan over a celebrity of the opposite gender. When did I say I’m in love with Chris Brown?

Why do you guys sexualise everything?

And please don’t bring my husband into this”, explained Zinhle.

Despite her efforts to address the issue, some users stuck to their strong beliefs while others felt she didn’t have to justify herself.

“Married, why would she even speak like that?” @ronaldanele questioned.

@ItsTheeYZee wrote “Explaining to people who don’t care,” while @CoysMagazi commented “Zinhle cares too much about the internet man. She is failing to realise the queen she is.”

This opened another chat about whether it’s appropriate for married or people in committed relationships to compliment or have celebrity crushes at all.
