Kaizer Chiefs face the risk of not qualifying for the Top 8, after playing to a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United in their Betway Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Amakhosi hopes for three points were dented four minutes into the match, when Ngoanamello Rammala’s shot got the better of Brandon Petersen at the near post who was left rooted on the ground.

Chiefs squandered several opportunities for an immediate equaliser, as the players failed to find the back of the net.

The Glamour Boys were however rewarded in injury time before the break, when striker Glody Lilepo carefully curled the ball into the net.

The win leaves Chiefs in ninth position, while Babina Noko dropped to fourth position.

At the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Cape Town City caretaker coach, Diogo Peral, registered his first win since he took over the team in March, by beating Polokwane City 2-0.

The win kept their league’s survival hopes alive, although the team is still rooted in 15th position, while Rise and Shine in seventh position.

Marumo Gallants hopes for three points were dented when a late equaliser Chippa United ensured that the match ended in a 1-1 draw at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The draw ensured that Gallants stay outside the MTN8 in 11th position, while Chilli Boys stay in eighth place as they played their last match of the season.

Orlando Pirates displayed a lacklustre performance in their first game since the departure of coach Jose Riveiro, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by TS Galaxy at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The Buccaneers set to give caretaker coach Manda Ncikazi his first win, but the Rockets fought hard in extra time, when they scored a dramatic late goal to ensure that both teams share the spoils.

Pirates are rooted in second position and are two matches behind all the teams, while the draw leaves Gallants in fifth position.

At the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Richards Bay and Lamontville Golden Arrows played out to another goalless draw.

The Natal Rich Boys now sit 11th on the table, while Abafana Bes’thende are on 13th position.
