Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, the two brothers extradited from Eswatini for their alleged role in the February 2023 murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, are set to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The pair, who were brought back to South Africa on 11 November after withdrawing their final appeal in Eswatini, face multiple charges including two counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal possession of firearms linked to the high-profile Florida Road assassination.
Prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba has already signalled that the State will strongly oppose bail, labelling the brothers a serious flight risk after they evaded arrest for nearly two years across the border. In addition to the AKA and Tibz killings, the Ndimande brothers are also accused of murdering Amanzimtoti taxi boss William Kunene and other separate hits, bringing the total number of suspects in the rapper’s case to seven. Today’s hearing is expected to focus on possible bail applications and further consultations with defence attorneys Simphiwe Mlotshwa and Sibusiso Dlamini.
The matter has been postponed several times since their dramatic first appearance two weeks ago, when the brothers arrived in court wearing leg irons under heavy police guard. All seven accused in the AKA murder case are scheduled to stand trial together at the Durban High Court in July 2026.
