Former David Beckham has officially become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List, with his and wife Victoria Beckham’s combined fortune reaching an estimated £1.185 billion.

The former Manchester United and England captain secured the milestone through a combination of football earnings, business ventures and major endorsement deals. Beckham, now co-owner of Inter Miami CF, has helped transform the MLS side into one of the league’s most valuable clubs, while maintaining lucrative partnerships with brands including Adidas and Hugo Boss.

Victoria Beckham has also played a major role in the couple’s wealth growth through her successful fashion business, years after rising to fame with the Spice Girls.

The Rich List also highlighted several other sporting stars among Britain’s wealthiest figures. Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton was ranked fifth among sports personalities with a fortune of £435 million, while golf star Rory McIlroy followed with £325 million.

Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was placed eighth with £240 million, ahead of rival Tyson Fury on £162 million. England captain Harry Kane and former tennis champion Andy Murray shared 10th place with fortunes estimated at £110 million each.

Meanwhile, Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, saw his fortune decline significantly after losses linked to petrochemicals giant INEOS.

Promoters Barry Hearn and Eddie Hearn also entered Britain’s billionaire ranks thanks to the continued success of Matchroom Sport.
