Mamelodi Sundowns has strongly condemned the behaviour of a small group of supporters who disrupted members of the club’s technical team following their match against Al Hilal.
Sundowns drew 2-2 with Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League and despite leading the group log as well as leading the Betway Premiership, a section of supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with head coach Miguel Cardoso and Sporting Director Flemming Berg.
The incident occurred as the Sundowns technical staff were leaving the stadium after the encounter, with some fans reportedly engaging in intimidation and disruptive conduct. The club said while it values the passion and active participation of its supporters, such behaviour will not be tolerated.
In a statement on Wednesday Sundowns emphasized that supporter engagement must always be carried out with respect and courtesy. The club warned that any threats, illegal actions, or intimidation by fans go against its values and policies.
Mamelodi Sundowns further confirmed that appropriate legal or disciplinary action will be taken against individuals whose conduct is found to be unlawful or in violation of supporter rules.
The club called on its supporters to rally behind the team as players and technical staff remain focused on defending their league title and competing strongly in all cup competitions.
Sundowns said unity and positive support from fans are critical to the club’s success as it continues to push for silverware on both domestic and continental fronts.
