The ANC has expressed unhappiness with the US government’s decision to give refugee status to white Afrikaners who are falsely claiming to be victims of genocide and land grabs in South Africa.

The first group of the so-called ‘Afrikaans refugees’ arrived in the US this week where they were welcomed by high ranking officials including the Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Troy Edgar.

The ANC said in a statement it rejected the move by the USA reiterated its assertion that there are no Afrikaner refugees in South Africa as well as that there are no land grabs nor crimes targeted at the group in particular.

“The African National Congress registers its firm rejection of the United States government’s decision to grant refugee status to 49 individuals self-identifying as Afrikaners.

“Let it be categorically stated: there are no Afrikaner refugees in South Africa. No section of our society is
hounded, persecuted or subject to ethnic victimisation,” said ANC National Spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri in the statement.

Bhengu-Motsiri said the misinformation campaign by the so-called Solidarity Movement ( comprising of among others Afri-Forum and Trade Union Solidarity) and seemingly supported by the Democratic Alliance was a move aimed at delegitimising the democratic government.

“These claims are a fabrication and a cowardly political construct designed to delegitimise our democracy and insult the sacrifices made by generations who fought for freedom,” she said.

On arrival in the US the group held a meeting with Landau, Edgar and other officials during which they apparently claimed to have experienced horror in South Africa.

“The Deputy Secretary and I just spoke to some of the folks who arrived on this flight, and they tell quite harrowing stories of the violence that they faced in South Africa that was not redressed by the authorities, by the unjust application of the law,” said Landau after welcoming the group.

Landau also slammed South Africa insisting it perpetuated human right violations against white South Africans ( despite evidence to the contrary).

“The United States, as we were proud to say, has – stands for equal justice under law and the fair and impartial application of the law.

“And again, this is a group that has not experienced that and has, to the contrary, experienced violence and really fear for their lives in South Africa. They were really subject to very serious, egregious, and targeted threats, and we wish them well in their journey in the United States. We underscored for them that the American people are a welcoming and generous people, and we underscored the importance of assimilation into the United States, which is one of the very important factors that we look to in refugee admissions and through this resettlement program for these folks who were vetted in South Africa. And we’re sending a clear message that the United States really rejects the egregious persecution of people on the basis of race in South Africa, and we welcome these people to the United States and to a new future,” said Landau in his rebuke of South Africa.

Afri-Forum is meanwhile relentlessly continuing to spread the lie of a white genocide and so far gone unbothered.

“The fact that the first group of Afrikaners has now left the country as refugees is a serious indictment against the ANC-led government, which continues to refuse to condemn calls for violence against Afrikaners, such as “Kill the Boer.”

“This refugee status is the direct result of the ANC-led government’s targeting of Afrikaners and other minority communities through discriminatory racial legislation and draconian race-based regulations. The new Expropriation Act, which makes expropriation without compensation possible, also places Afrikaners and other property owners directly in the government’s crosshairs,” said Afri-Forum CEO Kallie Kriel.
