As the matric class of 2024 will be receiving their matric results on Tuesday, some have expressed mixed joy while some are nervous.
Newsnote spoke to some of the 2024 matriculants of Mmadikete Lion Secondary School in Maboloka, outside Brits in the North West who are yet to receive their results.
In 2023, the province obtained 81.6% in the results, and 4th position in the overall matric results in the country.
Bonolo Lebusa expressed excitement and hopes the province will receive improved results.
“I can’t wait for my results; I know that I have passed because I went an extra mile during the examinations.
Based on my performance and the commitment of my fellow matriculants, the province will get improved results,” said Lebusa.
Another learner Dikeledi Segone told Newsnote that she’s not mentally ready for her results.
“I’m also expecting better results for the province because of the effort put in by the department of education.
We were taken to various places where we were taught a lot.
However, I am not ready for my results,” Segone remarked.
North West MEC Viola Motsumi is expected to release the province’s results on Tuesday in Klerksdorp.
More than 45 000 candidates sat for their final examination in the province.
The class of 2024 was lauded by Motsumi for their resilience, commitment and adherence to the examination guidelines throughout what she described as the critical phase.
She emphasised that they displayed incredible discipline and respect for the examination process.
