Police Minister Bheki Cele said 10 00 additional members of the SAPS will be deployed across the country during the festive season. The officers will officially join the police service from Friday, after undergoing a rigorous training programme and deployment at some police stations across the country. Deputy President Paul Mashatile said the government is committed to ending corruption and holding those responsible accountable. He was delivering a keynote address at the International Anti-Corruption Day event at the University of South Africa in Pretoria. African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa said the party regrets the resignation of Veterans League Deputy President, Mavuso Msimang. The struggle stalwart resigned from the party on Wednesday after more than 60 years. The African National Congress (ANC) said a forensic investigation has revealed that two junior staff members, entered into an unauthorised contractual agreement with Ezulweni Investments for the 2019 general elections. Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has dismissed assertions that the country’s judiciary is captured and not consistent in its judgments. There’s been a breakthrough in the Diepsloot mob killings that left seven people dead on 1 December. Two bodies were discovered in the street in extension 13, and police suspect they were torched to death. Five others were found in extension 12 a few hours later. Police in Gauteng say five suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the murders which occurred on Friday night and Saturday morning in two different sections of the township situated north of Johannesburg. The death toll following last month’s accident at the Impala Platinum mine in Rustenburg’s 11 shaft, has risen to 13. This after one of the mineworkers who was injured during the accident succumbed to his injuries. “It is with deep sorrow and regret, that an employee who was hospitalised following the accident on 27 November, succumbed to his injuries, and passed away on Sunday.
