The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has committed to working with the e-hailing companies, such as Bolt, Teksi Ride, and Shuma Ride. These emerged during a meeting between the council along with its affiliate body, the South African Meter Taxi and E-Hailing Association (SAMTEA), and e-hailing companies. The council is optimistic that this cooperation is a start of important work to ensure that the taxi industry and e-hailing platforms operate in harmony and with mutual respect. World football governing body, FIFA, has been lambasted for failing to ban Israel teams from participating in its competitions, including the World Cup. This after a FIFA council meeting failed to discuss global pressure to ban Israel at its meeting in Zurich, Switzerland. The North West MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng, has welcomed the arrest of five police officers for stock theft and possession of endangered animals. The three detectives are stationed in Vryburg and were granted bail of R1000 each by the Vryburg Magistrates Court for allegedly stealing four sheep belonging to a local farmer. President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on the Government of the State of Israel to release South Africans and other nationals abducted as part of Israeli authorities’ interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla. The South African Football Association (SAFA) said it’ll soon appeal a ruling by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee which docked South Africa three points for fielding an ineligible player. FIFA ruled that SAFA erroneously fielded midfielder Teboho Mokoena during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier between South Africa and Lesotho played on 21 March 2025. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced an early Christmas for social grant beneficiaries that their grants will increase by R10 in the October payment cycle. According to the agency, the adjustment is in line with the announcement made by the Minister of Finance earlier this year when he tabled the Budget Speech for the 2025/26 financial year.
