Police in Ipelegeng, Schweizer-Reneke, in the North West, have made a breakthrough following the arrests of three people in connection with the outbreak of violence in the area and gang related clashes. The North West government said more than 1 000 jobs would be created following Harmony Gold investment of R1.5 billion at its Stilfontein operations in the City of Matlosana Local Municipality. The investment is in the company’s renewable energy, which has already been rolled out. The Gauteng Department of Health said it is closely monitoring the impact of ongoing water supply disruptions in parts of the West Rand and Johannesburg districts. This follows a major pipe burst on Rand Water’s F39 pipeline near Soweto, which has caused water outages and low pressure in several areas. Four toddlers ranging from two years and below have died following a fire at a house in Mayfair, Johannesburg. According to the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS), its team responded to the incident around 11H00. “On arrival firefighters found the house we’ll alight and started conducting firefighting operations. While conducting a search and rescue operation four bodies of young kids ranging from two-years and below were recovered. Former Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament Renaldo Gouws has apologized for his racist remarks that he made in a video in 2010. This after he settled out of court with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in his hate speech case in relation to a video he published in 2010, which contained racially offensive and harmful language directed at black South Africans. Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has sought to allay fears that the withdrawal of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) will collapse the health system and HIV/AIDS programs in the country.
