The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has issued a notice of cancellation of registration of inactive political parties in the country. In a statement, the Commission said that it has informed 192 political parties of its intention to cancel their registration due to their inactive status and failure to renew their registration by the end of January this year. A 15-year-old learner is the latest victim of the ravaging floods that pummelled the Moretele Local Municipality in the North West over the past two weeks. According to authorities, the victim was swimming with six of his friends when he drowned in a flooded river at the Ruigtesloot village ward 1. The victim’s friends escaped unharmed.The municipality spokesperson Mothupi Malebye said the boy’s lifeless body was recovered by the disaster management and pathology team earlier today (Tuesday). The country’s policing union has commended law enforcement authorities in the country and police leadership, for their efforts to address the alarming crime rate in the country.
