The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Bafana Bafana will play their final preparation match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Saturday evening.

South Africa will take on Jamaica in a closed-door international friendly at the Hidalgo Stadium in Pachuca, Mexico, where Hugo Broos’ side is currently based. The stadium is located approximately 90 kilometres northeast of Mexico City.

Kick-off is scheduled for 23:00 South African time.

The encounter is expected to provide Bafana Bafana with a valuable test ahead of their opening Group A fixture at the World Cup. Jamaica, known as the Reggae Boys, are currently ranked 71st in the FIFA world rankings, offering tougher opposition than Nicaragua, who South Africa faced last week and who are ranked 131st.

Bafana Bafana are currently ranked 60th in the world and will be looking to fine-tune their preparations before the tournament gets underway.

South Africa’s World Cup campaign begins next Thursday when they face co-hosts Mexico in a highly anticipated Group A clash.

The friendly against Jamaica is expected to give coach Hugo Broos a final opportunity to assess his squad, refine tactics and ensure his players are match-ready for football’s biggest stage.
