Four suspects who were involved in a shootout with North West Police after a Cash In transit Heist on Monday, are fighting for their lives under police guard in hospital.
Police say a group of heavily armed suspects rammed into a cash van and thereafter fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money on the R556 in Mmaditlhokwa outside Rustenburg where two Fidelity security guards were shot and wounded.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says an intelligence operation led the Brits Trio Task Team and Crime Intelligence Officers on the R511 where a shootout ensued with the four-armed suspects traveling in a Hyundai H1 also in possession of stolen cash.
The suspects are facing attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of stolen property.
