ANC Treasurer General, Paul Mashatile is confident that he’ll succeed in his bid to be elected as the party’s deputy president. Mashatile has been endorsed by Gauteng, Limpopo, and the North West, as their candidate to the ANC’s national elective conference to be held in Nasrec from 14 to the 20 of December.
Speaking during the ANC campaign in Boikhutso in the North West ahead of Ditsobotla local municipality by-elections next month, Mashatile said he has all the qualities to be elected the party’s deputy president.
“As far as I know, branches of the ANC nominate comrades that they know are dedicated to serving. I think so. I am one of those comrades who want to serve the communities… want to build our organisation, and I suspect that as their reason for nominating me,” Mashatile said.
The ANC’s National Youth Task Team has also backed Mashatile for the position of deputy president.
Meanwhile, Mashatile said more than 4,500 delegates are expected to convene in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, next month for the elective conference. “The 4,500 will include voting delegates from branches across the country. The tripartite alliance partners of SACP and Cosatu will also form part of the roll call. But not as non-voting delegates. We are pleased to say the party is in the final stage of preparations,” he said.
