Action SA Gauteng leader and Premier candidate Fundzi Ngobeni blames his hijacking and kidnapping on a lack of opportunities for South Africans under ANC rule.
Ngobeni and the party’s youth forum chairperson Hluphi Gafane were allegedly abducted by three armed men in Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday night and driven to an identified location where they were held for hours and robbed off their belongings.
Ngobeni presented his offer to voters in Ivory Park hardly a day after being set free and said he is not going to allow the experience to derail his premiership campaign.
He said the robbers moved them from one location to another and at one stage one of his attackers asked him what he does for a living and upon informing the man that he’s the provincial leader of Action SA and premier candidate, the robber complained that he was tired of ANC corruption and was worried about former President Jacob Zuma making a come back.
“The gentleman, I say gentleman but he’s actually a thug. He said him and his friends were not proud to be criminals but had been forced into the life by a lack of opportunities in South Africa. He said he was angry with the ANC and also expressed concern with Zuma coming back into politics adding that Zuma stole a lot of money with the Guptas and now he’s coming back,” said Ngobeni.
“Ngobeni said the experience has made him to be more determined to defeat the ANC in the upcoming elections and make the fight against crime a priority. that is what we went through fellow leaders and although it was scary, it is also something to reflect on because as I say that the conversation with the gentleman was a harsh reminder of what our people go through daily and so this campaign is not about to slow down, we have to remove the ANC before things get worse,” he said.
