This week the Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell announced the list of the new Members of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for the municipality that has been plagued by political squabbling and lack of service delivery for its residents. Following the withdrawal of ActionSA from the executive on Tuesday Campbell swiftly introduced her members today at Germiston Civic Centre. Campbell said the new MMC’s are urgently attending to service delivery issues which have hit the city badly.
Here is the full list of the MMC’s:
MMC for Finance: Fanyana Nkosi

MMC for Transport Planning: Mabekenyane Thamahane
MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy: Senzi Sibeko
MMC for Real Estate: Tambo Mokoena
MMC for Corporate and Shared Services: Golden Maduana
MMC for Human Settlements: Alco Ngobese
MMC for City Planning: Heather Hart
MMC for Environment and Waste Management Services: Brandon Pretorius MMC for Community Safety: Khathutshelo Rasilingwane
Campbell said: “Upon reassuming office last week, I made a commitment to the residents of Ekurhuleni that my office would hit the ground running. I have already taken decisive steps on several issues, most notably the waste crisis which is now being attended to with the urgency that it rightly deserves.
“I would like to announce my team of MMCs who will guide their respective departments in a direction that builds on the great work we have achieved thus far.” Campbell said the new team was chosen based on its capabilities. “These individuals have been appointed based on their skillsets, and I have every confidence that they will lead their departments with the respect and dignity befitting of their office.”
ActionSA on Monday announced they left the coalition led by Campbell’s DA because of bad service delivery in the city, the party’s National Chairperson Michael Beaumont said.
“Of particular importance was the assessment of the state of service delivery in Ekurhuleni. ActionSA’s Caucus in Ekurhuleni raised several serious concerns about basic service delivery regressing in the Metro, most notably in terms of the reliability of refuse removal, electricity, and water supply,” he said.
