The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has raised alarm over the high number of road accidents in the province.
So far nine people have been killed in separate road accidents over the weekend.
Four people died in a horrific accident at Letlhabile near Brits in the Madibeng local Municipality in the early hours of Monday.
Another accident occurred on the N12 near Klerksdorp where three people died after their vehicle knocked down a pedestrian who also died in the accident,”said Keonyaditse.
The Safety Department Spokesperson Alpheus Koonyaditse said according to reports, a sedan with four male occupants was found overturned earlier on Monday on the road and they were certified dead.
“Allegedly the driver lost control of the vehicle which then hit the electrical pylon and the perimeter wall next to the road and overturned.
“This brings to nine, the number of the people who died on the North West roads since Saturday morning on separate accidents.
The MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari has sent condolences to the bereaved families.
Koonyaditse said a case of culpable homicide is being investigated in all the accidents.
