South Africa’s actress and entrepreneur, Nomzamo Mbatha has once again flown the country’s flag high at the prestigious Septimius Awards in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
The aim of the awards is to discover and support visionary storytelling in various genres of films and television series amongst others.
Mbatha scooped an award for Best African Actress for her lead performance as Queen Nandi in locally produced drama series, Shaka iLembe.
The news of her victory was shared on Instagram by Bomb Productions which is the company behind the creation of the series.
South Africa was well represented in the category Mbatha won, as she was nominated alongside Mzansi TV colleagues, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa and Nqobile Khumalo.
Fans and industry colleagues have sent congratulatory messages to Mbatha, with many praising her work ethic and wishing her more accolades in her career.
Her international career has since taken off to greater heights after featuring in Eddie Murphy’s Coming 2 America film in 2021.
Mbatha has made commendable strides representing Mzansi both in the continent and overseas.
Earlier this year the TV personality and model who is also a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Ambassador, won the 2024 Forbes Woman Africa Award.
Meanwhile, Shaka iLembe saw double wins at this year’s Septimius addition as costume designer Sheli Masondo, was also recognised with the Best Costume Design in a TV Series award.
According to some reports, the show will make its return with a new third season.
