Thousands of protesters are gathering at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg, as the March and March movement continues its demonstration against illegal immigration in the CBD.
The group, alongside ActionSA members, is calling for stricter immigration enforcement, including the deportation of undocumented migrants, tighter visa controls, and a review of asylum policies.
The march forms part of a wider series of nationwide demonstrations, with similar protests recently held in other major cities as the movement gains momentum across South Africa.
Protesters assembled in the inner city amid a heavy police deployment, with Public Order Policing units and metro officers monitoring the situation to maintain order and manage traffic disruptions.
The march is expected to proceed through central Johannesburg routes, including Braamfontein, before concluding at the Gauteng Legislature, where organisers will hand over a memorandum of demands.
Authorities have warned motorists of significant delays and road closures as the procession moves through key CBD arteries.
Organisers say the campaign is aimed at pressuring government to act more decisively on undocumented migration, while officials continue to monitor the situation to ensure the protest remains peaceful.
