The South African Civil Aviation Authority, SACCA held a career exhibition as part of its Back2School Careers Programme at Tsogo High School in Mmakau, outside Brits in the North West.
SACCA said it will visit several schools at the Madibeng Local Municipality throughout the week to expose the learners to the opportunities and possibilities in the aviation industry.
Grade 11 learners at Tsogo High welcomed the exhibition that they say will open their eyes to future career opportunities they were not aware of in the aviation industry.
Thabiso Mokone said after listening to aviation professionals, he is convinced the industry is interesting and could help him discover new things as he is adventurous.
Another grade 11 learner Ofentse Segona, feels that he has gained more knowledge about the industry especially when it comes to aeronautics in general and feels that it would be beneficial to him since he’s a designer and knows how to build and craft.
Sanele Zimba said she has learned a lot about being a pilot and will definitely try it because she believes that one day she will make a great pilot.
While Oratilwe Lisi, said at first she wasn’t interested in the aviation industry but the exhibition has captured her soul. The 16-year-old Grade 11 pupil said she has gained a lot and she is now ready to explore what air transportation as a career entails.
