The lioness that has been on the loose in the North West was recaptured and killed on Friday morning around the Piet Plesis area in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Municipality.
This was confirmed by the provincial Conservation and Tourism department spokesperson Jerry Matebesi after a two day search by a team of experts.
Matebesi says two big cats were in their cages at the back of a bakkie when they were transported from the Landabush Game farm to another farm in Tlakgameng on Wednesday morning, the owner realised later the lioness had escaped.
According to the department, the animal was spotted roaming within a residential area and its owner was informed immediately, the farm owner took a decision to exterminate it as it was a threat to the lives of the people around.
