The fifth witness, Zandile Khumalo is adamant the Bafana Bafana captain, Senzo Meyiwa died during a robbery that went wrong.
Khumalo gave her testimony about what happened the night Meyiwa was killed at her home in Vorsloorus in 2014.
Zandile, her sister Kelly, their mother Gladness Khumalo, Longwe Twala, Meyiwa’s two friends Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Thwala were in the house on the fateful night.
Khumalo said one of the intruders beat up her mother Gladness and snatched a phone from her.
“There was a phone that was on the armrest but I am uncertain. It could have been on the armrest of the couch or on the TV stand. My mother took that phone because it was charging. That is when the intruders saw that she was in possession of the phone and the intruder hit her with an elbow on the abdomen and that is when she fell on the couch.
“The first intruder then snatched the cellphone from my mother and then he walked out. At the moment Kelly had lifted or supported Senzo with her knees right there at that spot between the couch and the TV stand.
“After the first intruder took the phone. He turned around and walked as if he was going to the kitchen,” she added.
The previous witness, Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Thwala also testified that the intruders had asked for money and cellphone when they entered the house.
The five men on trial have denied any involvement in the killing of the soccer star.
