Donald Trump has expressed optimism that a planned United States operation to escort vessels through the Strait of Hormuz will be successful.
In a social media post, Trump referred to the initiative as “Project Freedom”, describing it as a humanitarian effort aimed at assisting ships stranded in the region.
He said several vessels were running low on food and essential supplies, framing the move as necessary to ensure safe passage and prevent a worsening situation at sea.
However, Iran has warned that any attempt by the United States to interfere in the strait would be viewed as a violation of the existing ceasefire.
Trump also indicated that ongoing diplomatic efforts, reportedly facilitated by Pakistan, could lead to a positive outcome, as Washington and Tehran continue to consider proposals aimed at ending the conflict.
At the same time, he cautioned that any disruption to what he described as a humanitarian escort operation would be met with a forceful response.
It remains unclear whether Iran has agreed to allow ships to pass freely through the strategic waterway, as it continues to assert control over the area.
