The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) in Gauteng has warned that it’ll not allow the City of Tshwane Municipality to undermine the workers’ rights. The union says it remains resolute in its commitment to defend the integrity of collective bargaining and the fundamental rights of all municipal workers. North West police have launched a manhunt for suspected Stilfontein illegal mining kingpin, James Neo Tshoaeli.Tshoaeli, who’s a Lesotho national, was among a group of 246 who resurfaced at shaft 11 in Stilfontein, near Klerksdorp, last week. The Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) in the North West has declared the closure of the rescue operations at an abandoned shaft 11 in Stilfontein near Klerksdorp as tragic and traumatic. The MRM is a networking platform that facilitates and coordinates all processes and initiatives aimed at combating moral degeneration. Limpopo Premier Poppy Ramathuba has confirmed that a 27-year-old suspect has been arrested following the abduction and rape of two nurses last week at Ga-Chuene village in the Capricorn District. The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, COGTA, Velenkosini Hlabisa has announced the cancellation of the retrenchments of about 67 000 Community Works Program (CWP) workers. The workers aged 55 and above were set to lose their jobs end of this month following an announcement by Hlabisa in December.
