Power Utility, Eskom said the power system remains stable, as Unit 1 of Mpumalanga’s Kusile Power Station returned to service. According to Eskom, the unit is expected to contribute an estimated 800MW back to the national grid. “Kusile Unit 1 officially back online following its successful reconnection to the repaired flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) system and permanent stack, which had been out of service since 31 May 2025. Police in KwaZulu-Natal have sent a stern warning to people who are aiding and abetting two of the suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Olorato Mongale. This after two accomplices were arrested after they helped the main suspect in the Mongale murder, Philangenkosi Makhanya, escape from police by driving him around to the malls and different other locations. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) said it is investigating allegations that Elon Musk’s company, Starlink, is illegally operating in the country. Starlink is a satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, and it doesn’t have the requisite authorisation to provide its services in the country. Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Olorato Mongale.
