Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) has announced that the annual consumer price inflation remains unchanged at 3,2% in February, the same as January. According to the agency, this marks the fourth consecutive month that inflation has remained above the four-and-a-half-year low of 2,8% in October. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng said it’ll oppose the bail application of ten suspects arrested in connection with fraud at the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) amounting to R260 million. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has requested that it be given space to investigate “power allegations” against Kwa-Zulu Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
