Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) has released fresh data revealing that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by a modest 2.8% for the year ending October 2024. The North West Department of Education has moved 281 Grade 12 learners and 10 teachers at Meriti Secondary School near Rustenburg to Swartruggens Gekombeneerde Skool in Swartruggens to write their remaining examination papers. This after two learners were stabbed last week, in what is believed to be linked to gangsterism. Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has assured residents of Stilfontein in the North West, that authorities would ensure that illegal miners who remain underground at an abandoned mine shaft, resurface. Police have retrieved the body of an illegal miner and rescued about five others at an abandoned mine shaft in Orkney, Stilfontein, in the North West.
