The Mercedes-AMG F1 team has confirmed that it has ended its 17-year-long relationship with Formula one great Lewis Hamilton. This after news broke on Thursday that Hamilton will leave the team at the end of this season. The seven-time Formula One world champion will join Ferrari for the 2025 season. The controversial auction of items belonging to former president Nelson Mandela has been suspended pending a court appeal by the South African Heritage Resource Agency (SAHRA). The items, which include the former statesmen identity document, a key to his cell at Robben Island, a pair of reading glasses, hearing aid, a pair of worn shoes and other personal items, were scheduled to be auctioned on 22 February 2024 in New York, USA, by Guernsey’s Auction House. The Pretoria High Court has dismissed an application by record label boss and musician Arthur Mafokate to have his multimillion-rand lodge La Villa Rossa in Midrand released from a preservation order. The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) was granted the order to preserve the property in 2022, following an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) that the 999 Music allegedly bought it with the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) grant. A joint report by the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic (CRL) Rights Commission and South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has found tensions between African and Indian communities in the Phoenix area, Durban.  According to the reports by both chapter nine institutions, this may have contributed to the July 2021 racial attacks in the area, that left 36 people killed and scores injured. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands, has issued provincial measures ordering Israel to take all measures to ensure that it does not commit genocide at the Gaza Strip. The order comes after Pretoria approached the ICJ in December last year, under the Genocide Convention, for alleged attacks committed by Israel on the Gaza Strip.
