The ANC in the North West has conceded that it is self-correcting to address the issue of dwindling voter support. The party has promised, among others, to appoint suitably qualified people into positions of government leadership.
So far the party has won 14 municipalities across the province that include Ramotshere Moiloa, Ditsobotla, Tswaing, Ganyesa and Madibeng local municipalities, among others.
ANC’s Interim Provincial Committee spokesperson, Kenny Morolong, said the party regards declining voter support as a warning from communities.
“We note that we fell short in three of our municipalities, and as for the hung municipalities, we will be guided by the national leadership that has expressed itself on coalitions. But what we also wish to say is that one of the lessons we have learnt out of these elections is that our people’s impatience is growing.
“The service delivery challenges must be addressed. Our leaders must lead with integrity, humility and honour. This time around we will make sure that the team of men and women who have been deployed by the ANC to serve, serve with honour and integrity.
“But more importantly, they are accountable to our people and available at all times, and they also stimulate the economy to create jobs,” Morolong said.
