In the third and final one-day international on Tuesday, South Africa defeated the West Indies by four wickets thanks to a 54-ball century from Heinrich Klaasen.

In attempting to chase down a West Indian total of 260, South Africa was in trouble at 87 for four. Nevertheless, as Klaasen went for his shots, the home team was able to complete the task with 20.3 overs remaining.

When the first game was postponed due to weather, the series was tied at one. The conditions were excellent, and that is what we aim to play—not the situation.

In Potchefstroom, Klaasen scored 119 runs off 61 balls while remaining unbeaten. He smashed 15 fours and five sixes. With David Miller (17), he had partnerships of 55 off 38 balls, and with Marco Jansen, they had a match-winning sixth-wicket stand of 103 off 62 deliveries (43).

Following his second wicket, Klaasen commented, “that was a good wicket and it was one of my better knocks.” With his aggressive, short-pitched bowling, Alzarri Joseph stunned the South Africans at the outset of their innings by getting the first two wickets. As the rest of the West Indian bowlers suffered greatly, he finished with three for 50.

Akeal Hosein, who took two for 49 in seven overs, and Yannic Cariah, who gave up 49 runs in 3.3 overs, were the targets of specific criticism from Klaasen. Aiden Markram led South Africa without Temba Bavuma, who was out with a hamstring strain, and the West Indies were bowled out for 260 after being sent in.

In an inning filled with beautiful drives, Brandon King hit 72 off 72 balls while hitting 11 fours and a six. With the exception of Jason Holder’s 36 and Nicholas Pooran’s 39, the rest of the West Indian batters struggled.

Shai Hope, captain of the West Indies, said, “We batted good in some parts but we clearly did not produce with the ball.

Despite the fact that the series did not count toward the World Cup Super League, Markram said the outcome on Tuesday was significant in advance of South Africa’s two matches against the Netherlands at the end of the month, which they must win if they want to secure automatic qualification for the World Cup. Gaining momentum before those games is nice, according to Markram. Supersport
