Former Labour Minister Membathisi Mdladlana has passed away at the age of 72. The news of his passing was confirmed to the media by his family. Mdladlana was appointed Labour Minister by President Nelson Mandela in 1998 and held the position until 2009. Police in Limpopo have arrested the daughter and sister of Sergeant Rachel Kutumela for their role in six insurance murders cases. They were arrested by the SAPS Limpopo tracking team in Mabokelele village on Thursday afternoon after the investigating officer obtained a J50 warrant of arrest. “The pair is a 47-year-old nurse who is a sister to the Sergeant and the other is a 27-year-old daughter to the Sergeant. Police have announced that all four suspects wanted in connection with the Lusikisiki mass murders, have been arrested. This comes in less than 24 hours from the time the SAPS issued an alert on them, and police said communities rallied together and informed them about their whereabouts. President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 in honour of former Minister of Finance Dr Tito Mboweni. Mboweni passed away at a Johannesburg hospital on Saturday, following a short illness. Several motorists stranded at the Klipspruit Valley Road in Soweto have been rescued by the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) Aquatic Rescue Unit.
