A third suspect linked to the alleged theft of precious stones worth nearly R15 million from an apartment in Killarney has handed himself over at Edenvale Police Station. The suspect is expected to appear in court on 7 July. Leandro Trossard’s future at Arsenal appears increasingly uncertain after Turkish giants Besiktas reportedly reached an agreement with the Premier League champions for the Belgian forward. Reports suggest Besiktas have agreed a €20 million (R371 million) package for Trossard, made up of an €18 million fixed fee and a further €2 million in add-ons. Civic organisation Vatsonga Machangana has warned that growing calls for action against illegal immigration are being distorted to target South Africans from the Vatsonga Machangana community. The African National Congress (ANC) says the enforcement of immigration laws must remain the responsibility of the democratic state, warning that no group or individual has the authority to take the law into their own hands. A truck driver has been killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the N12 West near the Comaro Road off-ramp in the Bassonia and Gleneagles area, south of Johannesburg. The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) said the crash, involving a heavy-tonnage truck and a minibus taxi, has caused severe traffic congestion on the highway. According to preliminary information, the truck’s heavy load shifted forward during the collision and fell onto the vehicle’s cabin, fatally injuring the driver. He was declared dead at the scene.
