A 23-year man will appear before the Moretele Magistrates court on Friday on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice among others. The man was arrested by North West police on Wednesday after the body of his 15-year-old girlfriend Karabo Monyama was discovered in a shallow grave in his backyard in Cyferskuil in Makapanstad. According to police, Monyama went missing after leaving her home on Sunday to watch soccer at her boyfriend’s place and never returned home. Nedlac has granted trade union federation Saftu permission to participate in the National Shutdown protests planned for Monday 20 March. SAFTU general-secretary Zwelinzima Vavi announced earlier that the union agreed to participate in the shutdown following the EFF’s request and sought permission from Nedlac Nedlac’s Standing Committee considered Saftu’s application and confirmed the protest would be protected under Section 77 of the Labour Relations Act which means no employer may institute disciplinary action against employees who decide to join the protest. Sibanye-Stillwater has concluded a section 189 process in its gold mining operations which will affect more than 2 000 employees in Gauteng.  The mining giant announced last year that it would restructure its gold sector due to financial losses at Beatrix 4 Shaft and Kloof 1 Plant. Six pupils from a Limpopo School were killed on Friday morning when a taxi they were traveling in collided with a truck and another taxi on the R579 in Motetema near Groblersdal. Authorities in the province said the accident happened when one of the taxis was overtaking unsafely around 07h00. The school children and drivers of the two taxis are among those that were confirmed dead at the scene, while others were taken to a nearby medical facility and later died. The lioness that has been on the loose in the North West was recaptured and killed on Friday morning around the Piet Plesis area in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Municipality.
