Police at the OR Tambo International Airport have discovered a stash of crystal meth worth R6 million hidden in a wooden snooker pool table that was destined for import at a warehouse. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said they were following up on intelligence when they made the discovery of the drugs, which were allegedly destined for Australia. “Police are following all leads to determine the origin of the drugs in South Africa, as well as who delivered the consignment for import. ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile said the party will do everything in its power, to ensure that the tripartite alliance doesn’t collapse. This as the South African Communist Party (SACP) said it’ll contest the 2026 elections independently from the ANC. World football governing body, FIFA, has announced that Spain, Portugal and Morocco will co-host the men’s 2030 World Cup, while Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 edition. FIFA also announced that three matches in the 2030 tournament will also be held in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, “to mark 100 years of the competition.” This will be the second time that the World Cup is hosted in Africa, after the 2010 edition in South Africa. The North West MEC for Economic Development Bitsa Lenkopane, has applauded the Premier’s Economic Investment Advisory Council, for its contributions to help revive the economy of the province. This emerged during a meeting between the Provincial EXCO members and the council in Sun City outside Rustenburg. The Road Accident Fund (RAF) has warned that it’ll not pay out people who intentionally throw themselves in front of a vehicle with the hope of cashing in on the Fund. The RAF said it had observed a trend where such fraudsters who wait for the vehicles to slow down enough that they don’t get killed on impact before throwing themselves. “This behaviour is dangerous and adds unnecessary pressure on the Fund which must assess and investigate claims of rightful claimants efficiently. The Gauteng Department of Health has sought to assure residents that it has implemented measures to ensure the provision of clean linen to patients at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. This after images of piled up linen emerged on social media at the hospital premises.
